1. Getting started

← Project overview

Project Overview shows all your projects on one shared timeline, instead of one project at a time. It is built for the planning meeting: you see what is running, where there is room for more work, and where things collide, and you can move work around directly on the timeline.

Finding it

Project Overview sits under Project → Overview. If you work with projects as tasks rather than as separate projects, it sits under Task → Overview instead.

Contact Microbizz if you cannot see the menu item.

The two halves of the screen

The screen is split down the middle. The two halves always scroll together, so a row and its bar stay side by side.

The project list, on the left

Your projects, one per row, with columns showing dates and other key values. Open a project to see its milestones, and open a milestone to see the tasks inside it.

The timeline, on the right

The same rows drawn as bars, placed by start date and deadline. A project bar spans its milestones, and a milestone bar spans its tasks.

The divider between the two halves can be dragged, so you can give either side more room.

How your setup shapes the view

Project Overview adapts to the way your company works, so two customers will not see quite the same thing.

  • If you work with projects, each row is a project, and you filter by project type and project status.

  • If you work with project tasks, each row is one of those tasks, and you filter by work area and task state instead.

Everything else works the same either way: the timeline, the milestones, the dragging and the dependencies. Where something differs, it is called out on the page that describes it.

The view remembers you

Project Overview keeps your own settings, so you return to the view you left. That covers the period, the timeline level, your team selection, every filter, your sorting, your search text and your chosen columns.

These settings are personal. Changing them does not affect what your colleagues see.
